Turn off the TV, grab a hot tea, and listen to this wildness:
We talk about streaming TV, Marco Arment, and uber-bad Uber…
We launched a new segment called “This week on the blog.” Is it as boring as it sounds? I’m hoping it will be funny somehow. This week we chat about an Irish dude named Connie who communicated with me through Twitter in an attempt to fix an audio problem he was having. He kept referring to me as “Sean” in the conversation. Here’s an example tweet:
@SamMallery thanks Sean will give it a go, problem is though that hiss is audible when headphones are in without any mic

YouTube is launching a streaming TV service called YouTube TV.
Here are the details:
-It will cost $35 a month
-It will have all of the major networks
-It will have unlimited DVR
-It requires a chromecast for tv use
-It is controlled from a smartphone app
-No NFL (on mobile), no hbo, not sure about HGTV (but Sling TV has it)
Marco Arment created an ad network for his podcast app called Overcast. Honestly, this is more of a tid-bit of news, but Shannon and I end up discussing it in length. Here’s some info about ads on Overcast – https://overcast.fm/account/buy_ad
UBER DRIVES OFF A CLIFF…
There was a lot more fallout around Uber in the past week or so. People are deleting app and vowing to only use Lyft, etc. A former Uber engineer (now with Stripe) Susan Fowler shared this blog post about how she was harassed at Uber and HR wouldn’t do anything to help her.
Washington Post had a story about how the CEO Travis Kalanick yelled at a driver. Here’s video of the incident:
